Photo Diary: Wat Saket - Bangkok, Thailand

The day after the farewell ceremony of my grandmother, my family and I decided to visit the historic temple Wat Saket also known as "The Golden Mount or Mountain" in Bangkok.

There were around 300 steps to climb up to reach the top of the temple which was actually a pretty good exercise for me (make sure you have a bottle of water with you - it is very needed). It's about a 5-10 minutes walk. If you really can't make it, there is a small coffee shop for refreshment half way up.

On the way up to the top you will discover beautiful statues, tropical plants, lotus ponds, and series of bells to ring on.

When you reached it you will be rewarded by the spectacular views of Bangkok. I recommend coming in the early morning so the sun and the heat won't kill you over the day. :)

Inside the prayer hall you can admire the beautiful Buddha statues.

Lighting candles and incenses for worship.

Shiny gold leaves can be directly attached to a lying Buddha.

A small stupa which houses relic of the Lord Buddha inside the center of the temple. You can leave a donation there if you want to.

We didn't stay at this peaceful place too long, because we were invited to a special dinner in the evening. I really enjoyed it though. It was nice and quiet.
